Project- The Henley
AEGIS Consulting Engineers + Project Managers were appointed as the lead Engineering Consultants and Superintendents for the design and construction of a new retaining wall at Henley Road, replacing a deteriorated timber sleeper wall with a more durable and cost-effective solution.
🔧 Our role included:
Evaluation of multiple design options, selecting a concrete sleeper retaining wall as the preferred system within the easement for improved long-term stability.
Detailed structural design and documentation to support the footing of the adjacent building.
On-site supervision and coordination of construction activities to ensure safety, compliance, and quality outcomes.
Implementation of water management measures during excavation, including plastic lining and dewatering to address seepage.
Adjusting excavation strategy by positioning the new wall footing 200–300 mm away from the existing deteriorated wall to prevent undermining the adjacent structure.
Increasing footing depth from 1.5 m to 2.1 m based on engineering judgment and experience from similar projects.
⚠️ Project challenges:
Project approval delays created concerns for the client; however, by using high-strength concrete in the footings, AEGIS was able to accelerate curing times and deliver the project ahead of schedule.
